The Center for Africana Studies & Culture Welcomes Rob Dixon

The Center for Africana Studies & Culture at IU Indy will welcome the renowned, Indianapolis-based jazz musician Rob Dixon as the first artist in residence for the 2023-2024 academic year. Dixon, a tenor saxophonist, is an active recording artist, an adjunct professor at IU Indy, and a jazz studies lecturer at Northwestern’s Bienen School of Music. He founded the Trilogy ensemble and the Indianapolis Jazz Collective, and serves as the Artistic Director for the Indy Jazz Fest. He also mentors the Jazz Futures, an ensemble of high school students sponsored by the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation.
